The Consumer Price Index (CPI) measures  monthly changes in the price of a 'basket' of goods and services which account for a high proportion of expenditure by resident households. This 'basket' covers a wide range of goods and services, arranged in the following eight groups:

• Household furnishing, supplies and services
• Health
• Recreation and education
